Whodunit? Murder For Two composer Joe Kinosian will reprise his performance as 'The Suspects' in the show beginning January 20, 2014. Kinosian takes over the role for Jeff Blumenkrantz, who will play his last performance as 'The Suspects' on January 19. Murder For Two is set to close its limited engagement at off-Broadway's New World Stages’ Stage 5 on March 16.
Directed by Scott Schwartz, Kinosian will step into the role alongside Brett Ryback, who continues in the role of ‘Marcus,’ the evening’s lovable, if inexperienced, detective.
Featuring music by Kinosian, lyrics by Kellen Blair and a book by Kinosian and Blair, Murder For Two originally opened at Second Stage Uptown in July 2013. The musical follows aspiring detective Officer Marcus Moscowitz (Ryback) in his attempt to solve the murder of an acclaimed writer. Moscowitz meets a long line of wacky suspects (all played by Kinosian) and tries to piece together the mysterious puzzle. All that and they play piano too!
Kinosian was awarded the 2011 Equity Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work-Musical or Revue for the musical, Murder for Two-A Killer Musical at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in Chicago, Illinois. He was also nominated for Actor in a Principal Role. Currently, he and Blair are in development on several new musicals, including The More Things Change, a backstage musical comedy about two middle aged actors battling to set the record straight about their shaky romantic past.
