The movie adaptation's tagline read "For every girl who was ever involved with an older man!" Tickets are now available for Theatre Row’s revival of Academy Award winner Paddy Chayefsky’s classic play Middle of the Night. Directed by Jonathan Silverstein, the show is set to begin performances February 11 with an opening night scheduled for February 27. The limited engagement will close its doors at the Clurman Theatre on March 29.
Middle of the Night tells the comic story of a May-December romance in 1950’s New York City. He is an older Jewish widower and she is a young gentile bride of another man. When they meet and fall in love, their relationship throws their disapproving families into a tizzy.
The play ran on Broadway in 1956-7 before Chayefsky adapted it for film. Directed by Delbert Mann, Middle of the Night was released by Columbia Pictures in 1959 and starred Fredric March and Kim Novak.
