Roundabout Adds Tony Winner Jim Dale's Solo Show Just Jim Dale; Cutie & Bear Postponed

Tony winner, two-time Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Jim Dale will star in his solo show Just Jim Dale off-Broadway. Directed by Tony winner Richard Maltby, Jr, the limited engagement for the Roundabout Theatre Company will begin performances on May 15 at the Laura Pels Theatre. Opening night is set for June 12. Meanwhile, the previously announced production of Bekah Brunsetter's Cutie & Bear has been postponed.

In Just Jim Dale, Dale recounts an unequaled lifetime in the theater and myriad irresistible showbiz tales – from a childhood performing on the British Music Hall stage, through his many Broadway triumphs in Scapino, Barnum and Me and My Girl, to his experiences narrating all seven Harry Potter audiobooks. The show is a collection of stories from Dale's breadth of theatrical work and songs, including ‘The Colors of My Life,’ ‘The Lambeth Walk’ and ‘Georgy Girl.'

Dale is best known in the U.S. for narrating the TV series Pushing Daisies. He was the first recording artist under the wing of the Beatles' recording manager, Sir George Martin. Dale has played various Shakespearean and classic roles in the West End since the 1960’s and most recently, the part of Fagin in the revival of Oliver! at the London Palladium. He made his Broadway debut in Scapino, followed by innumerable credits including Candide, Three Penny Opera and originating the title role of in Cy Coleman's Barnum alongside Glenn Close. Other notable TV and film credits include The Bill Cosby Show, Meet Jim Dale, Six Five Special, Carry On and The Winter's Tale.

The creative team for Just Jim Dale will feature set design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Rui Rita, sound design by Carl Casella with Mark York as pianist and co-arranger and musical direction by Aaron Gandy.
