Shiz University's incoming class of new witches, wizards and princes is going to be super popular! Christine Dwyer, Jenni Barber, Justin Guarini and two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa are set to join the Broadway company of Wicked. Dwyer will defy gravity as Elphaba, Barber will step into Glinda's bubble, Guarini will carry Fiyero's lantern and Testa will cause trouble as Madame Morrible. In addition, P. J. Benjamin will return to the blockbuster tuner as the Wizard. All of the new cast members will begin performances at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre on February 25.
Dwyer has traveled across the country as Elphaba and Maureen in the national tours of Wicked and Rent, respectively. Barber has appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Performers, The Nance and Annie. Guarini is best known for being first runner-up in the debut season of American Idol and has appeared on Broadway in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, American Idiot and the most recent production of Romeo and Juliet. Testa received Tony nods for her roles in 42nd Street and On the Town.
Current Wicked stars Lindsay Mendez, Alli Mauzey, Kyle Dean Massey, Carol Kane and Tom McGowan will play their final performance on February 22.
