'Sentimental Man' Martyn Ellis Joins the London Cast of Wicked

Martyn Ellis is set to star in the West End cast of Wicked as ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.' Beginning performances February 17, Ellis replaces Sam Kelly, who has withdrawn from the production due to ill health.

Ellis joins a cast including international Wicked star Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Madame Morrible), Paul Clarkson (Doctor Dillamond); Sam Lupton (Boq), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Emma Hatton (Standby Elphaba) and Sophie Linder-Lee (Standby Glinda).

Ellis' theater credits include Guys and Dolls, One Man, Two Guvnors (National and Broadway), My Fair Lady, The Lion King, Grand Hotel and Les Misérables. TV credits include The New Adventures of Robin Hood and The Smoke.

Wicked has music and lyrics by multi Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello.
