The results are in! On January 25, funny lady and former Broadway Annie star Jane Lynch announced the winners of the 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards. Celebrity presenters included Main Stem alums Debbie Allen, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks, Anna Kendrick and Sarah Paulson.
Glenn Weiss and the directing team of the 67th Annual Tony Awards won an award in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety. This marks the fifth win and tenth nomination for Weiss, who has served as director of the Tony Awards broadcast since 2001. He previously won the award in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Tony winner Rob Ashford, Beth McCarthy-Miller and the directing team of NBC's broadcast of The Sound of Music Live! lost in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Mini-Series. This was Ashford’s first DGA Award nomination, but he was overcome by Steven Soderbergh's HBO Liberace drama Behind the Candelabra.
