Tony winner Laura Benanti is to guest star in The Good Wife. According to TVGuide.com she’ll appear as the new fiancée of Lockhart/Gardner client—and wife killer—Colin Sweeney, played by Dylan Baker.
Executive Producer of the show Michelle King says that Benanti is “beautifully suited for Colin Sweeney.” OK that’s all very well and good, but please don’t kill off one of our favorite Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winners too quickly, OK? Two previous shows that she starred in, The Playboy Club and Go On, could have lasted longer, Hollywood.
Benanti most recently stole the show as the Baroness in The Sound of Music Live! She won her Tony for the role of Gypsy Rose Lee in the musical Gypsy. Her additional Broadway credits include The Sound of Music, Swing!, Into the Woods, Nine, The Wedding Singer, In the Next Room and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
