The Italian Stallion Enters the Broadway Ring! Happy Opening Night to Andy Karl & the Cast of Rocky

The Winter Garden Theatre is ready to rumble! Rocky, a new musical featuring music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and a book by Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone, is bringing the Eye of the Tiger to Broadway. To celebrate the official opening night of Rocky, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson sketched this ringside portrait of the cast in action.

Clockwise from left, the sketch features Andy Karl as Rocky, Terence Archie as Apollo Creed, Margo Seibert as Adrian, Dakin Matthews as Mickey and Danny Mastrogiorgio as Paulie. Based on the Oscar-winning 1976 movie of the same name, Rocky tells the inspiring story of an amateur boxer from Philadelphia who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to fight for the heavyweight championship.
