Patti LuPone knows a thing or two about playing mothers—she even won a Tony for her portrayal of Mama Rose in the 2008 revival of Gypsy—so on March 18, the theater icon headed to the Golden Theatre to pay a visit to another Tony-winning Mama Rose, Tyne Daly! The duo has another important connection: They both played Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's Master Class (LuPone in 1996 and Daly in the 2011 revival) on Broadway. LuPone brought her pal, Tony-winning composer Scott Wittman, to catch Mothers and Sons, McNally's newest Broadway drama. After the show, Wittman and LuPone headed backstage to greet Daly and her co-stars Frederick Weller, Grayson Taylor and Bobby Steggert. Check out these backstage photos of the cast and their special guests, then catch Daly and the stars of Mothers and Sons on Broadway.
