The Klown takes to the screen again! AMC will announce its upfront slate shortly and Deadline reports that one of its expected projects will be a series starring, penned and executive produced by Tony nominee John Leguizamo.
The untitled comedy, loosely based on Laguizamo's real-life three best friends, will follow a group of men in various New York boroughs as they wrestle with careers, relationships, family, ambition and getting older. Leguizamo will co-write the project with Sal Stabile.
Leguizamo last appeared on Broadway in Ghetto Klown, his one-man show which recently aired as an HBO special. He garnered Tony nominations for Best Play and Best Actor in a Play for his one-man show Freak. His additional Broadway credits include American Buffalo and Sexaholix. His many film and TV appearances include Ice Age, Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet and ER.
