The Broadway revival of Of Mice and Men opens on April 16 at the Longacre Theatre. Helmed by Anna D. Shapiro, the stage adaptation of the classic John Steinbeck novella stars James Franco, Chris O’Dowd and Leighton Meester, each making their Great White Way debuts. To celebrate, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson penned this portrait of Broadway’s favorites ranchers and company.
The sketch features Franco as George and O’Dowd as Lennie in the foreground, and then Meester as Curley’s Wife, Jim Parrack as Slim, Jim Norton as Candy, Ron Cephas Jones as Crooks, Alex Morf as Curley, Joel Marsh Garland as Carlson, James McMenamin as Whit and Jim Ortlieb as The Boss.
Broadway.com wishes the cast of Of Mice and Men a happy opening! Well, as happy as you can be given the play’s ending (spoiler alert for those who played hooky during ninth grade English).
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
