Red carpet events are typically a classy affair, but stage and screen celebs kicked it up a notch for the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5. This year’s fashion theme? “Charles James: Beyond Fashion.” (Click here for an example.) Broadway stars hit the red carpet rocking some seriously fashionable looks: If/Then star Idina Menzel wore a very Elsa-esque gown adorned with feathers and beads, All the Way headliner Bryan Cranston wore a dapper white tux jacket, Cabaret star Michelle Williams looked pretty as a picture in a sparkly cocktail dress, Hedwig’s Neil Patrick Harris stepped out in tails and a giant white cummerbund and Of Mice and Men star Leighton Meester was decked out in a glamorous gold gown for the occasion. Other stars looking glam on the red carpet included Tony winner Hugh Jackman, Glee’s Lea Michele and Into the Woods star Anna Kendrick. Did these stars nail their classy couture looks or did they miss the mark? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
