Lincoln Center Theater’s production of The City of Conversation will now play off-Broadway through July 26. Starring five-time Tony nominee Jan Maxwell, the political drama by Anthony Giardina had already previously extended through July 6. The play celebrated its opening night on May 5.
Directed by Tony winner Doug Hughes, The City of Conversation tells the story of political hostess Hester Ferris (Maxwell), a behind-the-scenes mover and shaker in the nation’s capital, and of the political gains and personal losses that her choices inflict on her family over a period of 30 years, from the waning days of the Carter administration to the beginning of the Obama presidency.
In addition to Maxwell, the cast includes John Aylward, Kristen Bush, Beth Dixon, Barbara Garrick, Luke Niehaus, Kevin O’Rourke, Michael Simpson and Phillip James Brannon. Beginning July 8, Andy Lucien will take over the role of Donald Logan, currently played by Brannon.
