Markus Potter’s Stalking The Bogeyman will have its off-Broadway premiere at New World Stages. The drama, which has additional writing from Broadway favorite Santino Fontana, among others, will begin previews on September 12, with opening night set for September 29. Casting will be announced later.
Stalking The Bogeyman is based on the true story of David Holthouse and follows one man's quest for revenge as he comes to grips with the killer inside him. In the spring of 2003, Holthouse was a successful, award-winning journalist. But no one knew that he had two dark secrets—first, that 25 years ago he was the victim of a violent rape, and second, that he was quietly planning the ultimate revenge on the man responsible.
Adapted and directed by Potter, Stalking the Bogeyman was created from the original true story and subsequent news reports, as well as conversations with Holthouse, lectures he has given around the country and original text by the playwright, with additional writing by Fontana, Shane Zeigler and Shane Stokes. Potter's producing and directing credits include The Velocity of Autumn on Broadway, Black Wizard/Blue Wizard and Why You Beasting?.
The production will feature scenic design by David Goldstein, lighting design by Cory Pattak and sound design and original composition by Erik T. Lawson.
