The world premiere of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Between Riverside and Crazy begins performances off-Broadway on July 10. The Atlantic Theater production will run through August 16 at the Linda Gross Theater. Opening night is set for July 31.
Directed by Austin Pendleton, Between Riverside and Crazy tells the story of Walter “Pops” Washington, an ex-cop and recent widower, who, with his recently paroled son Junior, struggle to hold on to one of the last rent-stabilized apartments on Riverside Drive. The Old Days seem to be dead and gone for the two as old wounds are opened, sketchy new houseguests turn up and a final ultimatum is delivered.
The cast of Between Riverside and Crazy features Stephen McKinley Henderson, Victor Almanzar, Elizabeth Canavan, Rosal Colón, Liza Colon-Zayas, Michael Rispoli and Ray Anthony Thomas.
