The New York premiere of Tanya Saracho’s Mala Hierba begins performances off-Broadway on July 14. Marta Milans stars alongside Roberta Colindrez, Sandra Marquez and Ana Nogueira. The production will run through August 10 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre as part of Second Stage’s twelfth annual Uptown Series.
Mala Hierba follows Liliana (Milans), a seemingly impeccable trophy wife of a border magnate living in Texas. But beneath her polished exterior lies a fierce determination to survive at any cost. When her true desires break the surface, she is forced to decide between obligation and the price of freedom.
The play, under the direction of Jerry Ruiz, will open officially on July 28.
