Two Broadway vets are crossing the pond to lead The Book of Mormon in the West End. Billy Harrigan Tighe and A.J. Holmes will replace Gavin Creel and Jared Gertner as Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, respectively, from July 28. Directed by Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker, the tuner is playing at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
Tighe appeared in Pippin on Broadway. His additional stage credits include Wicked, La Cage Aux Folles, Hairspray, Happy Days, Footloose and Dreamgirls. Holmes has played Elder Cunningham in all three North American companies of The Book of Mormon. Other theater credits include Young Frankenstein and Next To Normal.
Tighe and Holmes will be joining a cast including Alexia Khadime, Stephen Ashfield, Kevin Harvey, Hugo Harold Harrison and Chris Jarman.
Written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon continues to sell-out at Broadway's Eugene O'Neil Theatre. The show earned nine 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The London production won four Olivier Awards in April 2014 including Best New Musical.
