Weekend Poll Top Three: Don't Let Him Go! Fans Want to Adopt Shrek's Donkey

The 16th annual Broadway Barks pet adoption event took place on July 12, and while we regret that we didn’t take home all of the dogs this weekend from Bernadette Peters (that may actually have been a smart decision), we wondered which Great White Way animals would also make good pets. We asked you which furry friend (or crustacean, arachnid or anything in between) you’d most want to take home. Get those vaccinations in line, because the results are in and here’s who you chose!

1. Donkey, Shrek the Musical—20%
Who doesn’t love some donkey pot pie? This wise-cracking mule would definitely keep us on our toes, whether we like it or not. He may not know when to keep his mouth shut, but his loyalty only proves that donkeys are totally man’s (and ogre’s) new best friend. And we’re all about the parfaits here at Broadway.com. We have a feeling that Donkey would be on board with that.


2. Snoopy, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown—15%
Bring on the dog food, bring on the bone! This super duper pup may clean out your pantry, but he’s got a crazy imagination that would take you through wild jungles and World War I aerial combat. At the end of the day, though, this best friend knows that nothing beats some top-of-the-doghouse R and R. That sounds fine to us. How is it only Monday?


3. Simba, The Lion King—12%
Simba means business. After everything that happened during his childhood (damn uncles and hyenas), this king of the jungle would be fiercely protective. But thanks to his pals Timon and Pumbaa, he’d also find fun in the finer things in life. Like eating bugs.
