We’re gonna be honest: Things around the Broadway.com offices have gotten really boring the last few weeks. It’s sweltering, it’s humid, and worst of all, no new Broadway shows open until after Labor Day. But never fear, dear readers, we’ve got a great way to spice up the month of August: Broadway.com Summer Camp! Each day for 31 days, we’re highlighting the campiest, craziest, wildest—and did we mention campiest?—videos we can find. Put on your gaudy bathing suit and dive in!
WHY WE LOVE IT
The obvious aside, we just really appreciate the irony of Mandy Patinkin singing “Sometimes people leave you halfway through the wood” in the middle of a desert. Oh, and did we mention that he is literally playing SATAN in this?! Perhaps this is better without context, but here goes: On a Season 7 episode of Touched by an Angel, Patinkin guest starred as a alluring gentleman who offers to help Monica (Roma Downey) after she witnesses a building explosion. But she sees right through him, for he is really the devil who has taken on a human form—a human who can magically change from white to black suits. Hey, better the devil who sings Sondheim than the devil who don’t, right?

1:05. The most dramatic release of a garment since The Light in the Piazza. Then 1:22…not so much.
MOST GIF-ABLE MOMENT
OVERALL CAMP FACTOR
Two thumbs way up: one for Monica's musical theater-themed desert mirages, and one for Patinkin's ability to sing rounds with himself.
