We have our Peter and we have our Hook. NBC made the announcement last week that Girls star Allison Williams will play the titular boy who never grew up in their live broadcast of Peter Pan, joining the previously announced Christopher Walken as the swiniest swine in the world. We have to admit—we’re ready for some Broadway names to join the lineup, so we tasked you with picking a Great White Way favorite for the role of Wendy. Which Broadway darling should play Wendy Darling? The results are in, and here’s who you chose! And yes, perhaps these girls aren’t exactly in their teens, but have you heard them sing? If we’re going to continue the age-old tradition of having a girl play Peter, we’re willing to suspend our disbelief a bit more.
1. Laura Osnes—41%
How lovely a night would it be if we saw the Osnes back on the TV wowing audiences with her voice? Before her two Tony noms and slew of Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards, the actress got her big break on the NBC series Grease: You’re the One That I Want!, winning the role of Sandy in the Grease revival. Also, this would be a great screen test for Peacock’s next planned live broadcast, right? RIGHT?!
2. Celia Keenan-Bolger—16%
How awesome would it be if Celia Keenan-Bolger went from playing Wendy’s mother in Peter and the Starcatcher on stage to playing Wendy on screen? The Broadway goofball earned her second of three Tony nominations and her first of two Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards for her performance as Molly Aster the Peter Pan prequel. Surely, she has some extra starstuff lying around to fly once more.
3. Sierra Boggess—9%
From Little Lotte to Tender Shepherd. The Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner is the complete package: she has both the gorgeous singing voice and the childhood whimsy to deliver a moving performance as Wendy. Hey, if she can swim on stage, she can fly on screen.
