We’re gonna be honest: Things around the Broadway.com offices have gotten really boring the last few weeks. It’s sweltering, it’s humid, and worst of all, no new Broadway shows open until after Labor Day. But never fear, dear readers, we’ve got a great way to spice up the month of August: Broadway.com Summer Camp! Each day for 31 days, we’re highlighting the campiest, craziest, wildest—and did we mention campiest?—videos we can find. Put on your gaudy bathing suit and dive in!
WHY WE LOVE IT
Nowadays, we get the same old performances by Beyonce, Madonna and Bruno Mars (yawn, boring...) at the Super Bowl, but back in 1978, things were sheer perfection. Legendary celebrity impersonator Jim Bailey took the stage as Barbra Streisand in style—he literally zoomed out while standing on a moving convertible. We’re not exactly sure what “Don’t Rain on My Parade” has to do with football, but if there were more Super Bowl performances like these, we’d watch football more often.
LOOK OUT FOR...
The random backup “dancers” with elaborate feathered fans and Indiana Jones hats skipping in circles around the car. What the heck are they doing? Seriously, can anyone tell us?
