Tony winner Karen Ziemba, along with Joe Lisi, James McCaffrey, Jonny Orsini and Brenda Pressley, will star in Almost Home off-Broadway. Written by Walter Anderson and directed by Michael Parva, the new drama will begin previews on September 12 at the Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row and run through October 12. Opening night is set for September 18.
Ziemba will play Grace. She won the Tony for her performance in Contact and was most recently on stage in Bullets Over Broadway. Lisi will play Harry. His Broadway credits include Take Me Out; his screen credits include Third Watch and The Sopranos. McCaffrey will play Pappas; his screen credits include Rescue Me. Orsini will play Johnny. His Broadway credits include Macbeth and The Nance. Pressley, who will play Luisa, has appeared on the Great White Way in shows including Dreamgirls and The Lyons.
In the turbulent sixties, a young Marine returns home to the Bronx, shaken but hopeful for the future. Met by a mother fighting to keep the family going and a father down on his luck, Johnny finds himself caught between his parents’ dreams for his future and a police captain with plans of his own.
