We’re gonna be honest: Things around the Broadway.com offices have gotten really boring the last few weeks. It’s sweltering, it’s humid, and worst of all, no new Broadway shows open until after Labor Day. But never fear, dear readers, we’ve got a great way to spice up the month of August: Broadway.com Summer Camp! Each day for 31 days, we’re highlighting the campiest, craziest, wildest—and did we mention campiest?—videos we can find. Put on your gaudy bathing suit and dive in!
WHY WE LOVE IT
This campy video entry comes to us from Mark Oliver. And we can't thank you enough, Mark Oliver. We love Jessica Simpson and we love A Chorus Line. So you’d think the two combined would just be awesomeness overkill, but guess what? It’s not! We can’t get enough of this video of Simpson playing Cassie in her high school production at J.J. Pearce High School. The pop singer ended up dropping out of school her junior year, but her showstopping performance will live on forever. Particularly her spectacular delivery of the line, “I can’t act, I can’t act!” No, Jess, you can’t. You also can’t cook, but that’s a story for another video.
