Tony winner Blythe Danner, Daniel Sunjata, Kate Jennings Grant, Eric Lange, David Rasche and Sarah Steele invite you to join them at Donald Margulies’ The Country House. The Broadway production, directed by Daniel Sullivan, begins performances on September 9.
Inspired by Chekhov’s pastoral comedies, The Country House follows Anna Patterson (Danner), the matriarch of a brood of famous and longing-to-be-famous artists who have gathered at their Berkshires summerhouse during the Williamstown Theatre Festival. When the weekend takes an unexpected turn, the group is forced to improvise—inciting a series of jealousies, romantic outbursts and passionate soul-searching. The play received its world premiere at Geffen Playhouse in June.
Opening night is set for October 2 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
