Olivier Award winner Gavin Creel has (finally) crossed the pond and returned home. Well, closer to home. The Tony nominee, who headlined the first national tour of The Book of Mormon before opening the show in the West End, has returned to the tour for its Toronto engagement, which began on September 16.
Creel earned a Tony nomination for Hair, and also appeared in the show's West End run. His other Broadway credits include Mary Poppins (in which he also appeared in the West End production), Thoroughly Modern Millie and La Cage aux Folles. He took home an Olivier Award for his performance in Mormon in London.
Written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon continues to sell-out at Broadway's Eugene O'Neil Theatre. The show is also currently celebrating two national tours (the second of which began as a sit-down production in Chicago). The musical earned nine 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen you on the Great White Way, Gavin. Would you mind stopping by again sometime? There’s a certain show at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre we’d like to see you in.
