Tony winner Stockard Channing is temporarily out of the star-studded comedy It’s Only a Play. Rick Miramontez, a spokesperson for the production, told Broadway.com: “On doctor's orders, Stockard Channing is resting at home, recuperating from a recent knee injury. We look forward to having her back in the show next week." Tony nominee Isabel Keating is stepping into the role of Virginia Noyes.
Channing took home a Tony for Joe Egg and has been nominated for her performances in Other Desert Cities, Pal Joey, The Lion in Winter, Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, Six Degrees of Separation and The House of Blue Leaves.
Directed by Jack O’Brien, the Broadway production is currently in preview at the Schoenfeld Theatre and will officially open on October 9. The show, penned by Terrence McNally, also stars Tony winners Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, Emmy winner Megan Mullally, Harry Potter alum Rupert Grint and newcomer Micah Stock.
