Two students are jumping to the front of the class. Chris McCarrell and Matt Rosell, two Les Miserables ensemble members who understudy Marius, will temporarily take over the role at the Imperial Theatre. They step in as Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Andy Mientus films his two-episode arch on The Flash. McCarrell will feel a heart full of love from October 23 through November 2, with Rosell stepping in from November 4 through November 18. Mientus will return on November 19.
McCarrell, who will play Lost Boy Nibs in NBC’s upcoming Peter Pan Live!, has appeared on stage regionally in Bubble Boy, Summer of ‘42 and Next to Normal. Rosell appeared in the recent Toronto engagement and national tour of Les Miserables. The Laurence Connor and James Powell-helmed production marks the Broadway debut for both actors, as well as for Mientus.
The re-imagined Les Miz currently stars Ramin Karimloo as Jean Valjean, Will Swenson as Javert, Caissie Levy as Fantine, Nikki M. James as Eponine, Samantha Hill as Cosette, Jason Forbach as Enjolras and Cliff Saunders and Keala Settle as the Thenardiers. Kyle Scatliffe is expected to return to the role of Enjolras on December 2.
