New musical The Underclassman, inspired by the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald, opens off-Broadway on November 19 at The Duke on 42nd Street. Directed by Cara Reichel, the Prospect Theater Company show features music and lyrics by Peter Mills and a book by Mills and Reichel. The production will play a limited engagement through November 30.
Set in 1915, The Underclassman follows a young F. Scott Fitzgerald as he is swept into the Ivy League hierarchy and Princeton Triangle Club antics. His romance with the elusive debutante Ginevra King inspires what will become one of the most noted novels of American literature. The musical features choreography by Christine O’Grady.
