Hideous! Deformed! Grotesque! You know, three words that immediately come to mind when you think “Bradley Cooper.” The Oscar nominee (and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner) returns to the Great White Way in Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man, opening December 7. The Scott Ellis-helmed production, which premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2012, will play at the Booth Theatre through February 15, 2015.
In honor of the play’s big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson created this portrait of the Cooper and his costars in action. In addition to Cooper front and center, the sketch features (from left to right) Anthony Heald as Ross, Patricia Clarkson as Mrs. Kendal, Alessandro Nivola as Frederick Treves and Henry Stram as Carr Gomm.
Congratulations and happy opening to the cast of The Elephant Man! We are very pleased to have made your acquaintance.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
