The Phantom of the Opera has some new faces on parade! Julia Udine and Linda Balgord, who both appeared in the show's current national tour, begin performances on Broadway as Christine and Madame Giry, respectively, on December 15. They take over for Mary Michael Patterson and Ellen Harvey at the Majestic Theatre, where the iconic musical began performances nearly 27 years ago. Tony nominee Norm Lewis will don the mask as the titular Phantom through February 7, 2015.
Udine's additional stage credits include Jack’s Back and West Side Story. On screen, she has appeared in Law and Order: SVU and All My Children. Balgord’s Broadway credits include Cats, The Pirate Queen, Gypsy, La Cage aux Folles and Passion. She starred as Norma Desmond in the first national tour of Sunset Boulevard and as Rose Vibert in the U.S. and Canadian tour of Aspects of Love.
The current cast of the longest-running show on the Great White Way also includes Jeremy Hays as Raoul, Laird Mackintosh as Monsieur André, Tim Jerome as Monsieur Firmin, Michele McConnell as Carlotta, Christian Šebek as Piangi, Kara Klein as Meg Giry and Kaley Ann Voorhees as the Christine alternate.
