Sting, the creator—and now star—of The Last Ship, stopped by LIVE with Kelly and Michael on December 23 to talk about his inspiration for the show as well as what it’s been like stepping into the role of Jackie White at the Neil Simon Theatre. The tuner has its roots in the 16-time Grammy winner ‘s own experiences growing up by a local shipyard and the irony is not lost on him that “the place I escaped from is where I have to go back to, to find my inspiration.” Sting also admitted that with only two days of rehearsal, his first performance was like being “thrown into an elevator shaft.” You can see the rock star-turned Broadway composer tread the Broadway boards through January 24, 2015.
