It’s Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson! And Ruth Wilson and Jake Gyllenhaal! The American premiere of Nick Payne’s Constellations opens officially on the Great White Way on January 13. Michael Longhurst directs the Manhattan Theatre Club production at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
To celebrate the show’s big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson created this portrait of the show’s two stars. In the play, Gyllenhaal plays Roland and Wilson, who just won a Golden Globe Award this weekend, plays Marianne. The show explores their relationship through the multiverse of infinite potential outcomes.
Congratulations and happy opening to Constellations! Hope you celebrate with lots of balloons. Hope you celebrate with lots of balloons. Hope you celebrate with lots of balloons.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
