Stage and screen favorite Justin Bartha and Emmy nominee Elizabeth Reaser will star in the world premiere of Permission. As previously reported, Alex Timbers will direct the Robert Askins comedy. The MCC production will begin performances at off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre on April 29 and run through June 7. Opening night is set for May 19.
Bartha made his Broadway debut in Lend Me a Tenor and appeared off-Broadway previously in All New People. His screen credits include The Hangover and The New Normal. Reaser was nominated for an Emmy in 2007 for her guest spot on Grey’s Anatomy. She returns to MCC after appearing in The Money Shot last season.
Permission tells the story of Eric and Cyndy, a couple who decide to follow the leads of their friends and make Christian Domestic Discipline the foundation of their marriage. The new moral code upends everything they knew about one another, their friends and more importantly, who really holds the paddle.
The cast will also include Nicole Lowrance, Talene Monahon and Lucas Near-Verbrugghe. Creative team for the production will be announced later
