The complete cast is now set for New York City Center Encores!’ production of Zorba! Tony nominee Elizabeth Davis will take on the role of The Widow, joining previously announced star John Turturro in the title role, Marin Mazzie as The Leader, Santino Fontana as Nico, Zoe Wanamekr as Hortense and Adam Chanler-Berat as Mimiko. Performances will run from May 6 through May 10. Walter Bobbie will direct.
Davis made her Broadway debut in Once, which earned her a Tony nod. The ensemble will include Enrique Acevedo, Yusef Bulos, Laura D’Andre, Sean Ewing, Richard Gatta, Evangelia Kingsley, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Vanessa Lemonides, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Michelle Peterson, David Scott Purdy, Waldemar Quinones-Villanueva, Matthew Rossoff, Rommy Sandhu, Gavriel Savit, Allysa Shorte, Evan D. Siegel, Joseph J. Simeone, Alex Syiek, Nicholas Ward and James Zannelli.
The show features music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Joseph Stein and follows a larger-than-life Greek jack-of-all-trades and his friendship with a young American student. The musical first premiered on Broadway in 1968 and features the songs “Life Is” and “Only Love.”
