Fun Home Leaps from Page to Stage; Opens Officially on Broadway

Ready to come to the Fun Home? The Broadway premiere of Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori’s musical opens officially on April 19 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. The show, based on the graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel, is directed by Sam Gold. In honor of the musical’s big night, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson penned this sketch of the cast.

Featured in the portrait are Beth Malone as Alison, Sydney Lucas as Small Alison, Judy Kuhn as Helen, Michael Cerveris as Bruce, Emily Skeggs as Medium Alison, Roberta Colindrez as Joan, Oscar Williams as Christian, Zell Steele Morrow as John and Joel Perez as Roy.

About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
