Living on Love, starring opera superstar Renée Fleming and Tony nominee Douglas Sills, opens officially at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre on April 20. The wacky comedy follows an opera diva (played by Fleming, obviously), her maestro husband and their competing forthcoming memoirs. To celebrate the grand occasion, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson penned this sketch of the cast.
The whole company is present! In addition to Fleming and Sills, the portrait includes Jerry O’Connell and Anna Chlumsky as ghostwriters Robert Samson and Iris Peabody and Blake Hammon and Scott Robertson as butlers Bruce and Eric. Of course, the real star of the masterpiece is Trixie as Puccini (the dog).
In bocca al lupo to the cast of Living on Love! Enjoy the champagne and high notes!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
