Tony nominee Bryce Pinkham hosted a hilarious video backstage tour during his run in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder—now he’s got a new gig playing Heidi's best friend Peter Patrone in the Broadway revival of The Heidi Chronicles, and this time, he’s taking us on a photo tour of the Music Box Theatre! From his favorite stuff in his dressing room to the coolest prop in the show, Pinkham is giving Broadway.com an all-access pass to the photos he’s snapped on his cell phone throughout the run.
My good luck charm
“Tracee Chimo’s pregnant belly. Also pictured: Leighton Bryan, Ali Ahn and Elise Kibler.”
My favorite line in the show
“When asked what her play was about, Wendy Wasserstein said it was about this line.”
The coolest prop in the show
“My beeper in the hospital scene. Nothing says late ‘80s like actually having to call people back and speak to them using words in sentences. Not sure why this number keeps beeping me though...oh well, time to go out on stage!”
My favorite spot in the theater
“My dressing room, 'cause I just found out that Marlon Brando once used it during the run of I Remember Mama. I restage this picture every day with Elisabeth Moss, Jason Biggs and the rest of our amazing cast.”
My favorite thing in my dressing room
“My blow-up chair. Bet Brando never had one of these! My dressers gave it to me as an opening night gift because there was no furniture in my room. It folds out to become a napping spot, which is very important on two show days, and, quite frankly, every day.”
The crew member who saves my ass
“Jonathan Sharpless is responsible for taming my hair each day. He’s like a lion tamer, but with hair. A hair tamer.”
My must-have pre-show item
“Coffee, especially when it goes into the mugs Jason Biggs made us all for opening. What a mensch.”
The best costume piece I wear
“My acting chops!”
My favorite fan gift
“In lieu of an opening night gift, my family (my biggest fans) made a donation to the Children of Bellevue Foundation in Peter Patrone’s name. They have always been the first to remind me that theater is not just about entertainment, it’s about making the world a better place. In that spirit, I hope anyone who wants to make my day will make a donation to help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS by clicking the link above. Make a donation in Peter Patrone or Wendy Wasserstein’s name and then tweet me about it!”
Selfie right before I go on stage
“Here I go into 1965. And look—there’s a golden Elisabeth Moss already out there getting our audience ready for their journey! Wish I knew where Andy Truschinski is, though... Oh well. Come see us in The Heidi Chronicles, but only if you like laughing and thinking!”
