After across-the-board raves, The King and I has no reason to feel afraid. The Lincoln Center revival, which opened officially on April 16, saw its fourth consecutive week of audiences at full capacity. We will keep an eye on the production’s grosses as Tony nominations approach—we suspect its numbers will only grow. The April 28 announcement may also deliver a box office bump to two eligible plays that opened in the fall: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and It’s Only a Play. Meanwhile, four Broadway mainstays and a new comedy led the pack by gross: The Lion King, Wicked, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon and Fish in the Dark.
