Green Day Musical American Idiot Will Bow in London, Starring Amelia Lily

U.K. X Factor star Amelia Lily is getting ready to have the time of her life! She will take on the role of Whatshername in Green Day's musical American Idiot this summer. The production will make its London premiere at The Arts Theatre, where it will play a limited engagement July 17 through September 27. Opening night is set for July 22.

Based on Green Day's Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album, American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. The rock musical features the songs “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Holiday.”

The show features some of Green Day’s most critically acclaimed songs as well as a book by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, who directed the Broadway production. The London incarnation will feature direction and and choreography by Racky Plews, with sound by Chris Whybrow, design by Sara Perks and lighting by Tim Deiling. Further casting will be announced later.
