On the Twentieth Century Tony nominee Kristin Chenoweth will return to the big screen opposite Uma Thurman in The Brits Are Coming. According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Oakley will direct the project, with a script penned by him and Alex Michaelides. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Thurman, whom theater audience will know from Smash and The Producers, will star as Harriet, who, along with her partner Peter, flees a gangster. The two plan a jewel heist involving Peter’s ex-wife and her current husband, Gabriel. The pint-sized soprano takes on the role of Gina, Gabriel’s pill-addicted assistant.
Chenoweth took home a Tony for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Her additional Broadway credits include Wicked, The Apple Tree and Promises, Promises. Her screen credits include an Emmy-winning performance in Pushing Daisies and The Boy Next Door, in which she plays an assistant principal.
