The most famous princes in the world will soon be gracing Broadway with their presence...and now we know who will be playing them! Joining the previously announced Tim Pigott-Smith in King Charles III will be Oliver Chris as William and Richard Goulding as Harry; all three are reprising their roles from London. Directed by Rupert Goold, the show won Best New Play at the 2015 Oliviers, and will begin previews October 10 at the Music Box Theatre. Opening night is set for November 1. Complete cast will be announced soon.
The company will also include Adam James as Mr. Evans, Margot Leicester as Camilla, Miles Richardson as James Reiss, Tom Robertson as Couttsey and other roles, Sally Scott as Sarah and other roles, Tafline Steen as Jess and Lydia Wilson as Kate.
In the future history play by Mike Bartlett, the Queen is dead, and after a lifetime of waiting, Prince Charles ascends the throne. The controversial play explores the people underneath the crowns, the unwritten rules of our democracy and the conscience of Britain's most famous family.
King Charles III will feature sets and costumes by Tom Scutt, music compositions by Jocelyn Pook, lighting design by Jon Clark and sound design by Paul Arditti.
The show had a successful run at London's Almeida Theatre in the spring of 2014 before transferring to the West End's Wyndham’s Theatre, where it concluded its run on January 31. It will be followed at the Music Box by the Audra McDonald-led Shuffle Along will , which will begin performances on March 14, 2016.
