Matilda Composer Tim Minchin Performs 'When I Grow Up' with Three Revoltingly Talented Actresses

The national tour of Matilda has brought its naughty hijinks to Los Angeles, and Tony-nominated composer and lyricist Tim Minchin stopped by Conan recently to perform a bit of the show himself. Take a look as he, along with the tour’s three pint-sized headliners Mabel Tyler, Gabby Gutierrez and Mia Sinclair Jenness sing “When I Grow Up.” Minchin, whose next musical project is an adapation of Groundhog Day, discussed splitting the difference between a show like Matilda and his more racy material: “If you back over your hamster in your car or if you’re writing a song about bigotry, swearing’s appropriate, but it’s not necessarily appropriate in a family musical.” So grab some sweets and watch the clips below (after your cartoons, of course).
