Congratulotions are in order! Michele Lee and Fred Applegate are joining the cast of Wicked on Broadway. Lee will begin performances as Madame Morrible on July 5, taking over for Kathy Fitzgerald. Applegate has been tapped for the role of the Wizard and will step in for Hee Haw musical-bound P.J. Benjamin from June 29.
Lee is best known for her fourteen seasons as Karen Mackenzie on Knots Landing. She received Tony nods for Seesaw and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife; she has also been seen on Broadway in Vintage ’60, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and Bravo Giovanni. Additional screen credits include How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, The Love Bug, The Comic and Along Came Polly.
Applegate most recently appeared on Broadway in The Last Ship. His many Great White credits include Sister Act, Young Frankenstein, and The Producers.
The Wicked company currently includes Caroline Bowman as Elphaba, Kara Lindsay as Glinda, Matt Shingledecker as Fiyero, Robin De Jesús as Boq, Arielle Jacobs as Nessarose and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.
