Watch Incredible Story of How Amazing Grace Went from Beloved Hymn to Broadway

The sweet sound of Josh Young, Erin Mackey, Tony winner Chuck Cooper and more is currently being heard in Amazing Grace, and the CBS Evening News recently profiled the tuner. Christopher Smith, the cop turned Broadway composer/lyricist, believes that the beloved song "is one of the only things we can agree on as a culture." He also talked of how he discovered the story of John Newton, the British slave trader in the 1700s who penned the hymn."I was literally wandering through a library and pulled a book off a shelf at random," said Smith.
