Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Jessie Mueller Wants to Be a Disney Princess
Tony winner Jessie Mueller is currently working on a rather important waitressing gig in Boston, but that doesn’t mean she doesn't sometimes daydream about other activities. She recently revealed to Improper.com that her fantasy duet partner is two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz and her fantasy love-scene partner is: “Any Disney prince. Because I want to be a Disney princess.” Sounds like Mueller has much in common with Laura Osnes and these ladies!
Larry David Won't Return to Broadway
Fish in the Dark, which was created by and starred Larry David, may have been a big financial hit, but he won’t be coming back to the Great White Way. “It was an experience. Much like the army. But I didn’t re-up for that, and I’m not going to re-up for this,” David told the New York Post. He also, apparently, was offered several million dollars to headline the show in L.A. “The word ‘no’ has never come out of my mouth faster.” Something tells us that the next headliner at the Cort Theatre will be much less grumpy about being there...
Cast Set for Jerry Mitchell's Becoming Nancy Workshop
More updates on Becoming Nancy, the previously reported new musical from two-time Tony winner Jerry Mitchell. According to the Daily Mail, West End vets Sally Ann Triplett and Sophie-Louise Dann, along with newcomer Keith Ramsay, will lead a workshop of the stage adaption of Terry Ronald's novel. Becoming Nancy tells the story of David Starr, who plays Nancy in his school's production of Oliver. When rehearsals start he falls for Maxie Boswell, who plays Bill Sikes and is captain of the school football team. Says Mitchell about the piece: “It’s an amazing, amazing story about accepting people for who they really are.”
Wishes are Granted at Aladdin
Hit musical Aladdin welcomed its one-millionth guest on July 23 since beginning performances on Broadway on February 26, 2014, and she was in for a shining, shimmering, splendid surprise! Stephanie Lubin will be flown (presumably not by carpet) to Tuscany, Italy for a stay in a luxurious villa. Check out a fun video below of Lubin and her high school sweetheart Kevin Sparaco’s wishes being granted below. We think Jessie Mueller should consider stopping by the New Amsterdam Theatre...who knows what the genie will dream up for her?!
