A crackling hotbed of visceral tension will soon hit the London stage! Founding member of Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp, Keith Allen and more will star in Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming in the 50th anniversary year of modern classic. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the production will play a limited engagement November 14 through February 13, 2016 at the West End’s Trafalgar Studio 1. A gala night is scheduled for November 23.
Along with Kemp as Teddy (The Bodyguard) and Allen (Smack Family Robinson) as Sam, the cast will include Gemma Chan (Humans) as Ruth, Ron Cook (The Ruling Class) as Max, John Macmillan (In The Red and Brown Water) as Joey and John Simm (The Hothouse) as Lenny.
When Teddy returns from America to introduce his wife Ruth to his family in London, they discover a claustrophobic and brutal household where his father Max, brothers Lenny and Joey and Uncle Sam live in a state of mutual loathing and festering resentment. Theirs is a motherless, compassionless and lawless home where Ruth immediately becomes the centre of attention. Pinter's sinister masterpiece simmers with suspense and rings with savage humor as Ruth navigates her way between the roles of predator and prey in an incisive battle of wills.
The production will feature design by Soutra Gilmour, with lighting design by Richard Howell and sound by George Dennis.
