Tickets are now on sale for the Diane Paulus-helmed New York premiere of Invisible Thread. The new musical will star its co-creator Griffin Matthews, Nicolette Robinson, Kristlyn Lloyd and more. The show, written by Matthews and Matt Gould, will begin on October 31 at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre. Opening night is set for December 2.
Determined to find his place in the world, 20-something Griffin leaves his job and his New York City apartment to volunteer for a charity in Africa. But when his altruistic aspirations collide with the real world, his life is changed in unexpected ways. Inspired by a true story, Invisible Thread infuses a world pop score with African beats in a journey about discovering whether changing the world is even possible.
The cast will also feature Melody Betts, Rodrick Covington, Kevin Curtis, Tyrone Davis Jr., Nkrumah Gatling, Latrisa Harper, Jason Herbert, Aisha Jackson, Michael Luwoye, Corey Mach, Tiffany Mann, Jeremy Pope, Jamard Richardson, Adeola Role, Conor Ryan and Jamar Williams.
Invisible Thread had its world premiere at American Repertory Theatre (as Witness Uganda) in February 2014. The Second Stage production is in association with A.R.T. A majority of the cast, including Matthews, Robinson and Lloyd, reprise their performances from the Massachusetts run.
