David Mamet's China Doll, one of the most eagerly anticipated productions of the 2015-16 Broadway season, starts previews on October 21. Directed by Pam MacKinnon and headlined by the legendary Al Pacino, the world premiere co-stars Christopher Denham.
The two-hander follows Mickey Ross (Pacino), a billionaire who just bought a plane for his fiancé to celebrate his imminent retirement. As he’s about to leave the office, he takes one last phone call that could shake things up. Denham will play Ross’ assistant, Carson. Mamet is on record as saying that the show, which he penned for Pacino, is “better than oral sex.”
China Doll will run for a limited (naturally) engagement of 97 performances. Opening night is set for November 19 at at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
