Before serving up another Broadway performance to pie for in Waitress, Jessie Mueller is heading to the small screen! According to Deadline, the Tony winner has been tapped for a recurring role in ABC’s drama series The Family.
Mueller will appear as Fran, an angelic and adorable bakeshop employee (we're sensing a theme going on here), who crosses paths with Andrew McCarthy's character Sam. The Family follows the return of a politician’s (Joan Allen) young son, who was thought to be dead after vanishing more than a decade earlier.
Mueller earned a Tony Award in 2014 for her star turn in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. She also earned a Tony nod for On a Clear Day You Can See Forever; other Broadway credits include Nice Work If You Can Get It and The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
Waitress, which features a score by five-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, will begin previews on March 25, 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it will open on April 24.
