The sun’ll come out soon for Annie star Andrea McArdle and Kip Gilman off-Broadway! The pair have been tapped for Jerry Mayer’s new comedy, 2 Across. Directed by Evelyn Rudie, the production will begin previews on November 14 at St. Luke’s Theatre. The open-ended engagement is scheduled to officially open on December 9.
McArdle originated the title role in Annie, becoming the youngest performer nominated for a Tony as Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Additional Great White Way credits include Jerry’s Girls, Starlight Express, State Fair, Les Miserables and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
Gilman’s stage credits include The Odd Couple, Aspirins & Elephants, Catskill Sonata, Adam Baum and the Jew Movie, Mutually Assured Destruction and Stuff Happens. Screen credits include Studio 5B, CSI Miami and Bones.
Two strangers, a psychologist (McArdle) and an unemployed ad man (Gilman) find themselves alone on a San Francisco commuter train at 4 a.m., each doing their New York Times crossword puzzles. But before their crosswords are solved, they find that they may have solved the puzzles of their own lives.
